A revolutionary new service called Valize Cloakroom is available in Plaza Romy, and yes, it has to do with luggage. Especially when you have checked out of your hotel or Airbnb and have four or five hours before you need to be at the airport, wouldn’t it be lovely to spend those last few precious hours soaking up the sun on the beach without worrying about luggage and personal items? Well, now you can do just that with Valize.
Centrally located in Plaza Romy, Valize Cloakroom is an easy walk (and roll) for anyone staying in the Romantic Zone/Colonia Emiliano Zapata, and Centro is handy too. You take your bags to Valize, check them in, shop, eat, whatever you want, then pick them up and head to the airport when you are ready.
The security system is airport-inspired so that you can leave your luggage worries in the past. And you won’t receive a stub that you’ll have to guard with your life while you are busy having fun – everything is scanned coming in and going out, with your ID inextricably bound to the process. You can have someone else pick your luggage up for you; they have to be with you at check-in. So simple. So safe.
And other benefits don’t even involve the airport. Say you are staying (or even living) in the Marina and you are invited to one of our fabulous Los Muertos beach restaurants for the day, with dinner and/or theater plans for 6 pm. It’s a long way to travel twice, so here’s where Valize becomes invaluable.
Check in (Valize opens at 8:30 a.m.), rent one of their small containers (or use your own carry-on rolling suitcase) for 270 pesos, and drop in your makeup bag, evening clothes, shoes, purse, and anything else you will need later. After the beach, use Valize’s change room to get dolled up, then have dinner or catch a show nearby, return to gather your beach things before closing at 9:30 p.m., and head home.
You can also store surfboards, golf clubs, or your wedding gown for 700 pesos/day/item. Large groups will benefit from renting and sharing a small, medium, or large fillable container, great for extra beach towels, gifts, etc., that can be pooled and sorted out when you leave.
The brains behind this innovative new business, which opened in May, belong to co-owners Dallas James and his husband, Alfonso Cervantes; Dallas is the gorgeous boots on the ground, working with his Mexican Destination Partnership Manager, ‘Paco’ Dominguez. Alfonso tries to fly in weekly as they gently navigate their new home base. Eventually, they hope to buy a home once they choose a neighborhood and Alfonso is no longer based in Los Angeles.

Valize Cloakroom is located in Plaza Romy. It’s easier to enter via the Lazaro Cardenas 245 ramped entrance, but you can also access the Plaza from Ignacio Vallarta Street.
