I woke up this morning under my sheet... it was definitely nippy; this is gorgeous news! As we do every morning, long before dawn, Bogie and I step onto the patio and look at the sky. No surprises there—cloudy, but the air was cool—a delicious caress to start the day.
Di Vino Dante on Basilio Badillo has officially reopened. I joined the Out & About Puerto Vallarta crew to test the new menu. Zack, Gerwin, Adan, Jerry, and I ate for hours; the tapas kept on coming. We shared lots of laughs and many unprintable stories. Stay tuned for the reopening of Pizza Joe's, coming soon, and Claire and Gena, take some bows!
Due to Hurricane Polo, the Black Mirror (formerly Mystic Circle Cafe) canceled Gabriela Heart's show last Tuesday. I will let you know when she will appear in the Summer Music Series. Tomorrow, Nick Rogers stars in 'Everybody Knows This One.' Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7 pm. (The showtime change is due to Nick's busy schedule!)
Last Wednesday was the triumphant return of Colina Spay & Neuter Clinic Bingo at Nacho Daddy. I took advantage of Scrabble being canceled again and did a 45-minute Neurofeedback session. It is truly otherworldly, and it gets even more so the more sessions I do. The layers of sound are as relaxing as they are interesting, and I hear new sounds each time. Or, rather, recognize new sounds. The soundtrack is always the same; my brain reacts differently. Does that even make sense? It's a wonderful gift. Stan Wagner is the Jefe of Puerto Vallarta Neurofeedback; he and his hubby Robert Schamel joined me for some afternoon play. Stan introduced 'Pebbles For Pugs,' his new rescue charity, during the intermission at Bingo. Stan put up one of the fabric, non-skid doorstops as a prize, and Joanne Jacobs won it! For 200 pesos, you could protect your floors and help save a small dog's future, too. I make these by hand and can do custom orders for 50 pesos more. Contact Stan to find out what's left in his inventory.
I underwent a fourth treatment for my neck issues under Dr. Irving Ramirez. He has recommended at least ten Ozone Therapy sessions. I am not going to lie; the shots hurt, especially- no, only when administered to my skinny neck! But it's painful for minutes, and then it's gone. Irving pats me until I stop crying. Again, it doesn't take long! LOL. And because I don't have a lot of extra weight on me, he uses a smaller dose of ozone; otherwise, he assures me the pain would be far worse! We are improving in tiny increments; something I have to get used to. There are no quick fixes for nearly 75 years of steady deterioration, but we are on the right path.
Christian Manly and Wendy Warhol had La Catrina Cantina jumping with Name That Tune on Friday! These game shows are so enjoyable to watch and to play, apparently! The following is huge and fueled by fabulous popcorn and delish cocktails. See you in two weeks for Pyramid Live!
Effie Passero sang and played piano to a full house Saturday night at La Catrina Cantina. Tom Bernes was back from London and Chandy from the other coast of Mexico. Lots of familiar faces - Rob Burton and Jan Dorland, Jim Davis with Gabe, Ed, and Gary. Alison Lo, of course, supporting her best friend, Effie. I had the great pleasure of Sandra Bradley's stellar company, and we both enjoyed the chill Mezcal martinis.
If you visit Hyden Custom Furniture this week for free hardwood scraps, please send me a photo and let me know what you will do with the wood.
Ricardo Mazcal, my herbalist, has Tepezcohuite regenerating skin cream for sunburn and acne scars 20% off this week. Find him on Isla Cuale from 4 to 6 pm during the week and 10 am to 2 pm at his year-round Market every Saturday.
Seventeen more sleeps until Patrice arrives. So much to do in preparation! And we have less than a month until the rainy season ends. I always use the anniversary of Hurricane Kenna, October 25, to signal our return to perfect weather. In more than 35 years, Kenna was the latest calamity in Vallarta, 24 years ago.
There are lots of changes up in the air; I have a feeling they are all good, From Here.
