Fernanda Hernández
Fernanda Hernández is a versatile singer who was born in Aguascalientes, México, and has called Puerto Vallarta home for more than two decades. A self-taught vocalist, entertainer, producer, and former dancer, her artistic journey began almost as soon as she could walk. Deeply influenced by classical music from early childhood — especially composers like Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev — she originally dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer, even earning a scholarship to study at the School of Fine Arts as a child. Over time, however, music became her true calling.
Before dedicating herself fully to singing, Fernanda spent years performing as a professional dancer and entertainer in large-scale hotel productions including Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Latin and Mexican revues, and Cirque du Soleil–inspired shows. In 2013, while balancing office work and single motherhood, she began building a career as a singer in Puerto Vallarta’s music scene, eventually taking a leap of faith to pursue music full time.
Her musical influences range from Ella Fitzgerald and Jazz standards to Ópera, Led Zeppelin, Björk, Janis Joplin, Brazilian music and Chanson française but she also enjoys singing soul, rancheras, salsa, rock, and more. In 2016, she founded Moelle, a genre-blending musical project rooted in the belief that music emerges “from the soul,” creating a versatile sound that draws heavily from jazz and other influences.
For approximately five consecutive years, Fernanda and Moelle participated in the annual Jazz Fest organized by Cuates y Cuetes. They also performed in several Gay Pride parades, riding on a float with a full band representing Incanto Piano Bar & Theater and Garbo Piano Bar.
In addition, Fernanda has frequently appeared as a guest artist and backing vocalist in friends' productions and tribute shows, including tributes to Luther Vandross, George Michael, and The Beatles, as well as productions of The Music Man, Mentiras: El Musical, Zoe Lewis's shows, and various bolero performances.
Today, Fernanda performs throughout Puerto Vallarta as a soloist, duo artist alongside her husband and guitarist Carlos Calderón, and with Moelle in various formats. A wife and mother of two, she continues to create, teach, produce, and dream — always striving to offer audiences something heartfelt, unexpected, and soul-refreshing.
