Puerto Vallarta Anniversary Celebration

Puerto Vallarta Anniversary Celebration

Puerto Vallarta is getting ready to celebrate an important milestone — 108 years as a municipality and 58 years as an official city on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

The historic date marks the moment in 1918 when the Congress of the State of Jalisco granted municipal status to the former community of Las Peñas, officially renaming it Puerto Vallarta.

Five decades later, thanks to its rapid growth, expanding infrastructure, and increasing air and highway connections, Puerto Vallarta was formally recognized as a city.

To honor the occasion, the municipal government has planned three days of free celebrations from May 29–31 at some of the city’s most iconic locations, including the Los Arcos del Malecón amphitheater, the main plaza, and the Malecón lighthouse esplanade.

This year’s anniversary festivities will feature folkloric dance performances, live music, cultural presentations, a Mexican Air Force acrobatic show, and more family-friendly entertainment throughout the weekend.

The celebration will wrap up with a surprise musical performance at midnight on Sunday, May 31.
