Finding Frida Gender-Neutral Contest
Bar Frida 4.0 invites the community to a vibrant celebration of self-expression with Finding Frida, a gender-neutral contest taking place Saturday, April 26 at 9:00 PM at Venustiano Carranza 493. Inspired by Vallarta Pride 2025’s theme, “Vallarta Pride Revolution – The Future Has No Gender,” the event welcomes performers of all gender identities to embody the spirit of Frida Kahlo through karaoke or lip-sync. Contestants will compete for cash prizes and the chance to represent Bar Frida 4.0 in the Vallarta Pride Parade on May 22, wearing a custom-designed outfit inspired by their performance.
Bar Frida founder Tom Finley says the contest reflects the bar’s long-standing commitment to inclusion, creativity, and community. “Frida Kahlo represents resilience, artistry, and individuality—values we try to embody at Bar Frida every day,” he shares.
Participants must register in advance via Facebook Messenger or by emailing mike@mikelaking.com. Entry closes at 11:00 PM the night of the event. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges and audience vote.
