Aldo García Contemporary Art Exhibition
This contemporary art exhibition presents a deeply personal body of work by Aldo García, an artist whose career spans fine art, film, and tattooing. Trained at Mexico City’s prestigious National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving “La Esmeralda,” García went on to build a distinguished career in film, theater, and television, earning an Ariel Award nomination for Best Makeup and contributing more than two decades to major national and international productions through his work in special effects makeup.
In 2020, amid the global pause of the pandemic, García returned to his first calling: personal artistic creation. The resulting works are intimate, emotionally honest, and unfiltered—exploring vulnerability, identity, and the space between beauty and discomfort. His parallel practice as a tattoo artist, developed over 12 years, brings a raw immediacy to the work. Tattooing offered him both emotional and financial freedom, allowing his studio practice to remain fiercely independent, non-commercial, and unconcerned with pleasing an audience.
The exhibition opens December 11 from 6 to 9 PM at Kevin Paul Gallery, an avant-garde space in the heart of Zona Romántica where contemporary art, design, and lifestyle converge. Known for its fearless creativity and rebellious spirit, the gallery provides an ideal setting for García’s work—art that challenges, provokes, and invites viewers into a bold, introspective experience.
